Project Name: Perth Children’s Hospital
Project Location/Address: 15 Hospital Avenue, Nedlands WA 6009
Number of Levels: 9
Approx. Contract Value: $17.5 million
Period of Project Execution: October 2014 – December 2016.
When Schneider sought a contractor to support their work at the Perth Children’s Hospital, it provided ENGIE with the opportunity to take on the largest and most complex project we’d ever worked on. Working closely with Schneider, John Holland and WA Health, the combined effort and dedication of all our staff enabled the delivery of this challenging project. We are extremely proud to have developed positive relationships with all project stakeholders and deliver an outcome of outstanding quality which met the clients’ needs.
Challenges faced were largely around having to quickly evaluate what had precisely been started and take this work over while establishing exactly how much work was to be done. Due to being engaged at a late stage and Schneider facing liquidated damages of $180K per day, our team worked night and day to bring this project back on track. Using teamwork and planning, the first Computer Room CCR1 (shown in these pictures) completed within the tight 3-month deadline.
The total project consists of 2 redundant Computer Rooms, 44 Communications Rooms, 168 APC Communications Cabinets feeding a horizontal network of 19,000 copper category 6A UTP information outlets and a blown optical fibre backbone with 4032 optical fibre terminations. This new infrastructure providing a complete redundant network between all communications rooms / cabinets.
Our project team consisted of a site office of 6 people comprising a Project Manager, Project Administrator and 4 x Engineers managing up to 130 qualified communications technicians at the peak of the project who worked in groups across a split shift schedule.
This project was the winner of the NECA National Award for Voice / Data Installation - Project Category.
